Services We Offer
Individualized Academic Support
Our Learning Center faculty help students find individual solutions for academic barriers that get in their way. Individual consultations are available to every student to help find solutions and support to reach their goals in college and beyond.
Peer Tutoring & Study Groups
Tutoring is available for most undergraduate courses and is free of charge for all students registered in the requested course. All tutors have been successful in the respective discipline of study, are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association, and receive extensive training in tutoring methods.
Writing Support
Writing assistance is available to all undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students by faculty and qualified student tutors. We can help you at any stage of the writing process or assist you to become a better writer by focusing on your own personal areas of weakness.
Disability Services
Services are provided on an individual basis for students with disabilities and special learning needs.
English as a Second Language
Program Overview
The Learning Center is a friendly place that can help you become a more efficient, independent, and self-confident learner, regardless of where you are in your program of study. First-semester undergraduate freshman and last semester graduate students are among our clients. Our services are designed to help you if you struggle with one particular course, but you could also take advantage of all our academic support opportunities to help you "learn to learn" and improve your grades.
Best of all, our services are completely free of charge! Whether you seek individual help to identify your learning styles and strengths, need a study group or tutor, need an advocate as a student with disabilities, or are an international student still in need of English language acquisition and support, your tuition dollars have already gone ahead and put the services you need in place.
Vision Statement
The incarnational work of The Learning Center is to provide holistic support and academic services through an equitable student-centered approach to learning assistance.
Mission Statement
As part of the Roberts community of learners, the staff and faculty of the Learning Center seek to promote academic growth through a student-centered approach to learning assistance. The personal attention given at the Learning Center reflects Roberts Wesleyan University’s interest in the academic development of every student.
